How to Achieve Healthy, Glowing Skin with Squalane Oil

It's that time of year again… The days are shorter and the air is crisp. Many of us experience dull, dehydrated skin throughout Autumn and Winter due to the lack of moisture in the air. Moisture is a key component in keeping the skin's barrier functioning properly, which is why we suggest adding a facial oil like our Plant-Based Squalane Oil to your regimen.

What is Squalane?

Squalane is an incredibly soothing, hydrating non-comedogenic (does not clog the pores) oil and antioxidant that mimics Squalene, which naturally occurs in the skin’s barrier. Squalane is a hydrogenated version of Squalene, making it a more scientifically stable ingredient. Traditionally, Squalene has been sourced from a compound in Shark Liver for use in skincare and cosmetics, but Dahlia Skincare sources ours from plants, olives to be exact!

Benefits of Squalane in Skincare

As our skin begins to mature, our naturally occurring Squalene levels begin to deplete, which can lead to lack of suppleness and hydration in the skin. Hydration isn’t the only benefit to adding this oil to your routine… There are several reasons why we believe this should be a staple in everybody’s skincare collection!

  • Locks hydration into the skin. Squalane is very lightweight, moisturizing oil. This oil absorbs into the skin without feeling heavy and helps to balance the skin’s lipid barrier.

  • Reduces appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and texture. Because Squalane is a hydrating antioxidant, it naturally plumps, smooths, and brightens the skin.

  • Soothes the skin, reduces inflammation, and redness. This oil mimics our skin’s natural lipid barrier and is filled with nourishing antioxidants that replenish and repair the skin. Our Plant-Based Squalane Oil contains Organic Lavender, Australian Sandalwood, and Neroli- a powerful, soothing blend of plant oils and extracts that promote a healthy complexion.

  • Great for oily, acne prone skin. Squalane is non-pore clogging, soothing, and balancing. As many products made for oily and acne prone skin are drying and put the skin in an inflammatory state, Squalane wil hydrate the skin without feeling too heavy, balance natural sebum production, and soothe blemishes.

Squalane is truly a great ingredient for almost every skin type! Maturing skin? Our Plant-Based Squalane pairs well with our Obsidian Roller & Gua Sha Set. Acne prone, inflamed skin? Try with our Aura Cooling Facial Globes. Squalane can be used alone as a lightweight moisturizer or on top of your favorite moisturizer to give the skin a boost of hydration and a lasting glow.
